Ask for a health insurance quote online and your name can end up on a list. Some sites collect a form and sell it to a dozen agencies at once, which is why a single quote request can turn into a week of phone calls from people you have never heard of.
We do not do that. Maine Health Insurance Brokers does not sell your information, and we do not pass your contact details to a lead buyer. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, the limited situations where we hand information to someone else, and how to tell us to stop.
Who we are
Maine Health Insurance Brokers is a registered trade name of Gain Financial Services, Inc. We are licensed Health and Life insurance agents in Maine, and we are appointed with the insurance companies whose plans we quote.

What we collect
What you give us. When you request a quote, use a contact form, subscribe to something, apply for a plan or ask about a career, you may give us your name, date of birth, home address, county, email address, phone numbers, household size and estimated household income, the names and dates of birth of family members you want covered, and details about the coverage you have now. Our quoting software collects some of this on our behalf.
If you are asking about employer coverage, we also collect information about your company, including an employee census, which is a list of the employees you want to cover along with their ages, home zip codes and any dependents.
What is collected automatically. Like most websites, ours logs the Internet Protocol address you connect from, your browser and operating system, the page that referred you and the times you visited. We use that to keep the site running properly and to see which pages are useful. It is not used to build a profile of you.
Why we use it
Your information is used to quote coverage, to answer your questions, to submit an application if you ask us to, and to service your policy afterward.
We may reach you by phone, email, text message or mail with quotes, plan documents, enrollment reminders, renewal notices and information about changes in the Maine insurance market that affect your coverage. Our aim is to keep you informed without becoming a nuisance, so if you would rather we stop contacting you, or stop contacting you a particular way, tell us and we will.
If you contact us about a career, we use what you send to evaluate you for insurance industry opportunities and to share information about those opportunities with you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, and we do not trade or rent it.
There are four situations where your information goes somewhere else, and each one happens because you asked for something we do not handle ourselves:
- If you request coverage, your information goes to the insurance company you are applying to, and to that company’s enrollment systems.
- If you request a quote for a product we do not place ourselves, including life insurance, long term care insurance, disability or property and casualty coverage, your information may go to a licensed agent we partner with who does place it.
- If you request employer coverage that is better served by a specialist, your information may go to an independent broker who focuses on that line of business.
- If you ask about careers, your information may go to a third party that helps place people in health, wellness and insurance roles.
We also use service providers to run our website, email, scheduling and agency management systems. They handle information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We will release information when the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful request from a regulator such as the Maine Bureau of Insurance, or from a court.
Text messages
If you give us your consent to send you text messages, you agree to receive texts from Maine Health Insurance Brokers about quote requests and customer care.
Your consent to receive text messages and your mobile phone number will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

Asking us to stop marketing to you does not stop the notices an insurance company has to send you about your own policy. Those come from the carrier, and you would need to contact them.

For plans whose rates are filed with and regulated by the Maine Bureau of Insurance, you will not find the plans we sell offered for less somewhere else. Whether you buy through Maine Health Insurance Brokers, through another agent or directly from the insurance company, you will pay the same monthly premium for the same plan.
This applies to filed-rate products. It does not apply to level funded plans or to PEO arrangements, which are not filed with or regulated by the Maine Bureau of Insurance and are priced case by case.
